Default ADV.1's Worlds lightest 22" wheel project | Panamera Turbo

One of our loooong term customers, Anroy asked me if we could somehow make a 22" wheel for his PTT that will look good and perform, well not like a 22" wheel. Of course, I said heck yeah let's do this. This set is actually not the lightest 22's we could make however we had to cut the development short in order to complete them in time for the Waterfest show up North…Still, without engineering a set that requires testing and all that time consuming stuff, we were able to get these 22x10.5's at 30 lbs. and 22x12's at 31 lbs.

We're currently working on the REAL ultimate lightweight 22" set for Anroy which will be one of our new Track Specific SL's in 3 piece Track Spec configuration. The set will have the absolute minimum material required for the Panamera meaning there will be no possible way to get a lighter wheel and remain safe for use with the PTT's monstrous power and load rating. We'll most likely see something in the range of 25-28 lbs per wheel by time we're done with the project. Stay tuned for more, we'll keep you guys updated on the progress as we move forward. Engineering begins on the new set this week.

These wheels, although not the real deal lightness are still pretty impressive:

ADV5.0 Track Spec w/ Traditionl spoke profile / non contoured step lip option
    22x10.5: 30 lbs.
    22x12: 31 lbs.
brushed centers w/ polished trim + polished lips
    Pirelli 265/30/22 + 315/25/22

ADV1 Strikes again! Outstanding work. So happy these aren't blacked out.
Not sure about the commentary on weight.....a car with over 500 hp? Wheel weight seems insignificant.

    Beautiful outcome though.

Thanks guys, I feel the same, love this setup.
The weight of the wheels even on 500+ HP cars actually makes a pretty big difference in the cars performance and the overall feel of the car believe it or not. It's not a huge difference but when you're really into performance and 1/4 mi. times weight plays a big role even with big power cars like this. To answer the question ^^ it's without tires, the tires are probably around 30 lbs alone.

You don't like corners do you?

I guess such a special development cost the client a lot of money?
Not putting miles on your (super)car is like having the hottest girlfriend, but not banging her very often because you want her to be tighter for her next boyfriend.

Looks great but the rear rim looks a bit wide for the tire? Maybe an 11.5" would be a better?

Don't like corners?? You're saying a few lbs makes so much difference on the street that its worth extra cost, time or trouble? I am not suggesting anyone mount the heaviest wheel they can find. I am suggesting that many people fall for sales pitches about weight and strength when such issues mean little compared to the extra cost. Especially when extra wide tires add weight back into the equation.
If you have a track car, yes, buy only wheels and tires that facilitate faster runs. For street use, its not as significant as durability and the desired look.

When you want to track a car and buy 22" rims you are pretty screwed. All the forces going into the bushings etc. are so high then you will destroy them in so fast.
YOu really feel the difference in accelerating etc. when you have a lighter rim. Drive a TechArt Formula rim and then a HRE rim of the same size on the same car ad you will feel the difference. It's not only that this is unsprung weight but that weight is also rotary weight!

And when someone has the money why shouldn't he spend it.
