Split Second Turbo Tuner Porsche 911 996TT 997TT TURBO
SPLIT SECOND TURBO TUNER
EXCLUSIVE FOR PORSCHE 911 996TT AND 997TT TWIN TURBO MODELS
The Turbo Tuner is a plug-and-play solution that significantly enhances performance. Typical gains are 40 horsepower and 50 ft-lbs of torque. It is designed to be an easy-to-use solution that end users can install themselves.
The Turbo Tuner can be installed or uninstalled in seconds. It does not cause any trouble codes and its operation does not leave any trace that it was ever there. The Turbo Tuner is not an ECU re-flash solution. It is an embedded control solution that works seamlessly with the stock ECU. The turbo tuner provides real performance gains while it preserves the smooth and refined character of the car.
The Turbo Tuner is built using surface mount technology and state-of-the-art, pick-and-place automated assembly equipment for the ultimate in quality assurance and reliability. The design features a soft limit circuit that avoids overboost. This protects the engine from boost spikes and preserves drive ability. There is also a temperature compensation protection circuit that lowers boost at elevated under-hood temperatures.
Price: $799

Funny thing is that it works...well. (not the sticker
) Obviously its a very mild hp/tq increase. I've seen it dynoed on a 335 and a 996tt both had an avg of 30-40hp increase. European Car Review: http://www.europeancarweb.com/tech/e...s/viewall.html
The Split Second plug and play has been around for 3-4 years, nothing new. Split Second is a credible company that has been around for a long time and I've used their products on my old e30 m3 (ARM1) installed by Alex at SP-Engineering years ago.
I wonder if EVOMS Panamera plug and play package utilized the same tech: EVOMSit Panamera TT Software Kit for Panamera - SharkWerks Porsche Performance Experts in Northern California Bay Area (510-651-0300) Maybe Sharky can chim in.Last edited by L8apex; 11-29-2011 at 02:37 AM.

theres a SAFE way to get an extra 40 hp, and theres an unsafe way to get 40 hp.
this is the unsafe way.

I dont care about the chip, I just like the fact that they tell you to apply a sticker and where the APPROVED location is..

Allan, I agree! It isn't easy being cheesy. They need help in the marketing dept for sure.
Steve, Please elaborate on how this is an unsafe gain of 40hp? Would you consider the EVOMS plug and play unsafe too?
Before you answer that last one take a look at the how the EVOMS plug and play, piggyback, signal disrupter or whatever you want to call it installs on the Cayanne and Panamera: http://www.fabspeed.com/PDF_files/EV...structions.pdf The difference is that EVOMS charges $3000 for their Cayanne and Panamera module (which was released this year) and Split Second charges under $700 for their BMW and 996/7tt unit (which was released in 2007). Would love to have Sharky or someone from EVOMSs chime in on what signals they are grabbing inorder for the ECU to increase the boost. Yes, the stock ECU controls the boost and everything else with Split Second and I assume the same holds true for EVOMS.
It seems this Split Second stuff is relatively new to the Porsche world but it is old news for BMW. For some background on how "safe" (relative when it comes to tuning anything)- The Split Second unit was/is sold at some BMW dealerships for the 335/135 (Brecht BMW in SD is one of them). Brecht also uses it in their SCCA T2 335 race car for the past several seasons..others do also. FWIW, when it hit the market in 07 it received the award for one of the Best Engineered Products at SEMA.
Maybe, Split Second should put a shinny box on the unit, sell it to a well known Porsche tuner and then raise the price $2000. Then maybe it will be considered "legit" and of course "safe".94 3.6 Turbo sound clip NO H2O

my friend has a 335 coupe with a JL or JBL or whatever its called. it plugs into the Mass air flow, and there is an actual delay because the ECU gets confused.
this isnt what a properly tuned chip offers.
also, a tune for a 996 turbo will yield A LOT more than 40hp.

i can post a thread on a porsche forum and get a full explanation.
but i can say for a FACT that this will not work like a normal ecu flash.

as far as the evoms unit, same story.
i would NEVER put this on a high end sports car.
when driving, you can FEEL that the car doesnt accelerate smoothly (on initial full throttle)
