    this is the unsafe way.
Back to your original statement... Can you back it up with facts that it (Split Second or EVOMS piggyback system) is unsafe? If so, please provide.

What is your definition of safe when it comes to a tune? (Not asking for your opinion or what your buddy has...just the facts)

I don't believe EVOMS or Split Second have made any representation that this approach is the same as a flash. Apples and oranges.

    N4S or Sharky please respond.

Need 4 Speed Motorsports will never recommend a product that is unsafe. We have been working with Split Second for over 3 years now and have installed and sold over 100 units on different types of vehicles without causing any damage to any of the vehicles. The fact is that this product does work and has been tested by the manufacture and also by us on our clients vehicles. Thank you L8apex for providing the proper information to support the product.

The Split Second unit is a great product for the price, it is on average half the cost of having your vehicle’s ECU be re-programmed of “flashed” and is 100% safe to use. We also do work with a handful of great tuning companies such as Velos Designwerks can re-program and also “flash” your factory ECU.

The Split Second Unit is a simple plug and play unit that takes less that 5 minutes to install and remove, which again is 100% safe.

We welcome anyone that would like to try the product for themselves to come to our facility. We will be more than happy to install the unit on your vehicle and let you test it out.

    Thank you

ok , i am sorry but this is actually really funny.

i posted a thread on another forum (porsche techical type site) and they did not believe that i wanted they data as to why splt boxes are not good for 996 turbo's. They thought i was actually going to put one in my car and they are (literally) laughing and making fun of me. Once they take my question seriously i will post the reply.

    ok,
here are the responses that have been posted so far. they arent what i was looking for, but you can get an idea what they think of a device like this.

"Tricking the ECU into incorrect MAP values sounds like a bad idea to me. Especially on a forced injection car where the pressure is key to engine performance and safety."

"MAF and MAP clamping - that some O.G euro-ricer methods." <~~~ he owns a modded 996tt, an e55 modded, and a gti modded.

"It overrides the sensor from sending true values. the safety's in the uce are overrode too" <~~~~ this guy isnt the greatest online typer, but he literally built his own 996tt motor from stock 4 digit numbers.

i'll post more as i get more replies.

    Steve,

I don't have a dog in the hunt and really don't care. But you made the statement that this vendors product is unsafe...prove it with facts. The quotes above are opinions, not facts. I assume that you are trying to give the above opinions credibility by what cars they own, that doesn't work. Not looking for replies from another forum from random people. Look, not saying one thing is better than the next, but this "mod" has been going on with VW, BMW, Porsche 996/7, CayanneTT, Panamera Turbos for a while with no reports of any major issues. As far as the the opinion of the last quote "the saftey's in the UCE (assume ECU) are overrode too" Really? Do tell.

I'll let the vendors and mfg continue the debate from here. Cheers!

I appreciate your concerns Steve K, however as mentioned previously we have first hand installed these on numerous vehicles and test driven them with no issue. There are no safety concerns with this product, as we deal with it physically and have been for some time. I appreciate your feedback L8apex as I am as well solely concerned with facts and concrete details in terms of products and its attributes. There are several methods as we all know when it comes to modifying vehicles and we at Need 4 Speed Motorsports simply want to give the community an added option.

    Thank you
