    here's the story. luckily it was this guy. i know bad phrase but there's another guy in town with 3 911's(993 turbo, 996 turbo, 997 c4s). so of the 2, well you know.

    I'm glad they saved the dog!! Too bad about the car and garage but they can be replaced.

    What was the reasoning behind plugging the battery into a charger? Maybe I missed something obvious. Glad they were alright.

    it's a good question, they just got back from a vacation, a long drive the battery shouldn't go dead. if the car was sitting for a week maybe, but not right away.

    i know some of the volenteers who responded to the call. they said it was interesting to say the least. they'd never seen a car on fire just sitting before...they never saw my 944 on fire.

    charging the battery may have done it, sulfate the battery and it could explode, sending things in places they shouldn't go, or the charger itself could've shorted out. many possibilites, all i know is auto insurance covers it, home owners insurance covers the garage, and the people/dog are ok
