54k miles on my GT3. it's the car I choose to drive everywhere. It's fine as a daily driver. It's extremely "harsh" with a laundry list of track goodies, but that's why I love it. I smile every time I drive it, blip the throttle, downshift into a corner, and step on the gas. They are truly amazing cars.

Just sold my 996 gt3 for a 997 gt3 and its a much nicer ride and much more liveable but a 996 would not make a good daily.

    Got the GT3...

Finding it very easy to drive and comfortable enough as a daily. Thanks for the input all.

    Hey Grendel:

At 54k how reliable has the gt3 been for you. I have 38k on mine now. What should I look out for?

It's been solid as a rock for me. The biggest item that nearly everyone replaces is the LSD. If you haven't done that yet, chances are your diff doesn't work. They were horrible from the factory. There is a company in Boulder, Guard Transmissions, that rebuilds them and uses significantly better internals. Rear main seal issues usually happen at lower mileage - so if you're at 38k and haven't had any RMS issues you're probably fine. I get the car corner balanced and aligned every year (which is probably overkill) and stay up to date on all service. I changed to gt3 cup cables on the shifter because the stock cables were getting a little sloppy.

They are fantastic cars, and bullet proof.

great advice on the lsd. i bet you 90% of the gt3 drivers, esp the 997s, are driving with an open diff. lol sad, but true. get the guard lsd and be done with it. it'll cost you about $2500 for the rebuild kit. well worth it as it's a must to have a properly functioning LSD on these beasts!

I've ridden in several gt3's and I find them comparable to my z4m in comfort, maybe slightly less comfortable but somewhat similar. Z4m is actually less roomy and I daily drove that for a little over a year.
    Ballin on a budget.
