Slain Navy SEAL Jon Tumilson's dog "Hawkeye" lies next to his casket during funeral services in Rockford, Iowa. Tumilson was one of 30 American soldiers killed in Afghanistan on August 6 when their helicopter was shot down during a mission to help fellow troops who had come under fire.

Some of these images are serene

The Tsunami/Quake ones tend to get to me a lot. There was actually an interesting article in the news today regarding why the waves were so powerful. Apparently this was the first time that viable data was collecting with what they referred to as merging waves. Some of the videos from March were very hard to watch.

It's a shame that most moving photos capture destruction and turmoil.

That picture of the dog always bring tears to my eyes. I find it kinda funny that for some a dog is only a dog while for some other, it is literally their best friend.
