^ yes that is a good deal, but quite honestly everything in that bundle (besides the camera/lenses) are garbage, cheap china stuff. i would also recommend the Nikon D5100 for slightly more MPX for $660 with an 18-55mm lens.

    Nikon 5100 or Canon T2i
Skip the 3100. It's basically a point and shoot dSLR.
Spend a couple extra dollars. You'll be happy you did in a year.

Ehhhhhh..... No..... there are manual settings in the camera which let you change anything you want, just like the D5100 or the T2i, all of these cameras have manual settings digitaly, and few on the outside. Any camera can be used as a point and shoot, because they all have an auto switch. you may want to rethink that comment.

    I agree 100%.

My suggestion. Buy the cheapest and most basic DSLR you can buy, and practice. Learn all the settings and shoot. You will begin to realize what you want to get out of the camera, and then you buy a new camera accordingly. I'd pick up a used Rebel XS. I'd consider used as it will be cheaper and you can beat it to shit without worrying.

Not only that....buying a cheap camera is a good bet as you might not think photography is as glorious as you thought it would be. Photography does take work, and I see alot of people get turned off from it after they realize this. If you decide to not pursue it, you can just sell the old gear for a quick sell without losing much.

can't go wrong with the T3i. you can find one brand new on ebay for $730. Worth the extra $30 over the t2i.. or wait for black friday. I have seen the t3i on dell for $700 a few weeks ago.

I prefer Canon items, but you will definitely find that people seem to side with one camp or the other. If you are willing to wait for the best deal there have been deals on the Canon 60D. I missed the last one where you could have the 60d with the 55-250 IS lens for around $600. It required you to resell another lens on ebay, but was well worth it. Just set an e-mail alert on slickdeals.com for canon and nikon and wait for the deal to come along.
