    Question Need Canon FF Help!

So i just got a Full Frame Canon 5D Mark II, i realy want a lens that i can just walk around with, so i have been looking into the 18-200mm, but since the 5D is full frame will the lens work fine on it? will there be any vignetting around 18mm?
    Thanks!

    18-200 is an EF-S lens.

    Will not physically fit.

    Canon U.S.A. : Consumer & Home Office : EF-S 18-200mm f/3.5-5.6 IS

    Buy the 24-105 F4 IS.

    18*1.6crop = 28.8mm vs 24.

The 24 has a wider angle on a full frame than the 18 would have on a crop. If you want more zoom, buy a teleconverter but beware of 3rd party as they let less light in.

A 24-70 F2.8 is the ultimate lens for full frame but is shorter so it depends on what you like.

I believe that's what it's called (EF) I moved to Nikon awhile ago. I believe Mark II's came with 24-105 which worked fine when I had it. You may want something with a faster apeture. The nifty fifty is a good start for walk arounds imo.

I have heard great things about the 24-105. Nearly every Mark II I see has this lens and when I ask them about it they seem very happy. Congrats on the purchase! I hope to buy one soon when the Mark III comes out.

EF-S physically fits but will crop the shit out of your images.

If you want the better lens, 24-70 2.8 is preferred by most "pros" and is what I use about 90% of the time I shoot.
If you want a very very good lens with more length, 24-105 f4 L is good but not as fast as the 2.8
If you want a good lens with good length at a bargain price the 28-135 is a great lens for about 1/3 of the cost of the others.

Personally I would avoid a lens that has some crazy wide angle - telephoto length as the elements are just not as the others.
18-200 would fall into that category.

Yes, but as you can attest, that's a heavy lens. As a "walk around" lens, it's challenging over a long day to use it strictly because of the weight - I think that's a relevant point here. No question it's an amazing lens and it's a standard, but if I read right, the OP wanted a more casual "walk around" lens. Not that a 5DmkII is a "walk around" camera, but you follow me. haha

I walkaround with my 24-70 on my 5D. Absolutely beautiful lens. Used to own the 24-105 but I prefer the 24-70.

The main differences between the 24-105 and 24-70 are
    1. IS vs no IS
    2. f/4 vs f/2.8
    3. 105 vs 70 on the long end
    4. Weight (24-70 being heavier)

So based on all that, it really is your preference that'll guide your decision. Either way, you will have a great lens on a great body!
