    Exclamation Nikon's Ignorant Comment

first off i would like to say, this is not actually nikon themselves, just a noob facebook page operator.

Horrible comment comes from nikons facebook page earlier, if you are an experienced photographer you will understand why this is ignorant. here is the link

    Nikon | Facebook

but, here is the words in text..

"A photographer is only as good as the equipment he uses, and a good lens is essential
to taking good pictures! Do any of our facebook fans use any of the NIKKOR lenses?
Which is your favorite and what types of situations do you use it for?"

my comment was "give a little kid a D3X and his photos will be garbage, give me a coolpix 1MP point and shoot and they will outperform his."

Ya I just saw this on FB. Cannot believe they said that. It's definitely the photographer not the equipment.

Actually I believe you guys are somewhat misinterpreting the comment.

give a little kid a D3X and his photos will be garbage, give me a coolpix 1MP point and shoot and they will outperform his

I shoot for car companies and if I used that old 1mp coolpix point and shoot to photograph an ad campaign the photos would be pretty much worthless no matter how nice they look, the resolution, clarity, etc wouldn't be up to the standards needed, not to mention I wouldn't have the lenses and accessories, nor the control I would need to get the job done. I would have been laughed out of the office.
There are many scenario's where the equipment could be an impediment to getting good photos, for another example you wouldn't want to shoot a car race with a point and shoot camera.....

To put it another way, if Michael Schumacher showed up to an F1 grid with a Yugo, he isn't going to win. He would be only as good as his equipment

It's pretty common marketing speak to say a [insert job title here] is only as good as their equipment. You're overreacting

One can deduce that from the statement "A photographer is only as good as the equipment he uses", that if all photographers had the same exact equipment, they would all be equally good photographers, Nes Pas? So the problem is that the statement leaves no room for the photographers individual skill.

Tommy, I agree i can take quality Pictures with my crappy 1mp camera phone while their are people out there who have spent thousands of dollars on equipment they barely know how to use.
