    Default D7000, tips and advice?

Looking to pick up a D7000 soon to replace my D300, I have an 18-200...

Here is my list to pick up next.

    Nikon D7000
    Battery Grip + Extra battery
    SB-900
    2 16GB SanDisks
    and a carrying bag

Anyone use one of these before?

Opteka X-Grip Pro Video Stabilizing Handle (Black) XGRIPBK B&H

I want to get into HD video big time, film some cool stuff of our cars. I already have a 50mm, 18-200vr and 10.5 fisheye, not too sure what other lenses I should get?

Would you recommend the D7000 over a D300S? SB900? Just trying to save money here and there, but looking to do a huge upgrade very soon!

    28mm lens? What's your opinion?

70-300 worth it? Looking to do surf shots.

    Wish I could help.

Would like to also know what people think of the D7000.

Yeah I read like 30 reviews, watched 30 youtube videos and called a few places. I'm going to drop the cash probably this weekend or next week. Gotta get my new stuff before La Jolla Classics and ALMS in Long Beach!!!

If you already have Nikon lenses, I highly recommend the D7000. It's the best DX body Nikon's made so far. It's even better than the more expensive D300s. The only drawbacks with the D7000 vs D300 are the weatherproofing and the AF performance (though the D7000 is already a good AF performer).

I still stand by my recommendation of either the Tamron 17-50 or 28-75 f/2.8. It's truly an incredible value and is nearly on par with the Nikon 17-50 or 24-70 at a third or less of the price. The Tamron is only slightly slower on AF performance.

For a tele lens, I wouldn't go with a 70-300 VR if you already have an 18-200VR. You may want to go for a faster lens in that range for your surfing shots such as a Nikon 80-200 f/2.8 or a Nikon 70-200VRII f/2.8 if you have the money.

Do you already have any other Nikon flashes? The all sync wirelessly with the D7000 body.

D7000 will have superior video and amazing in low light performance.
Nikon 70-200VRII f/2.8 with 2x teleconverter would give you the 400mm for surf photos since you have a fast enough lens and the sharpness. Then throw the background out of focus for selective targeting on the surfer.
With the video Tokina 12-24 is one of the popular lens for a wide angle on a cropped sensor size, and you save some $$.
Also Monpod for the beach shooting will help significantly or a fluid head tripod for panning in video.

Picked one up yesterday! It's SO sick! Easy to use, but it's pretty damn different compared to my D300 LOL.

Should I pick up the 70-300? I can get it for $200 bucks off since I can buy it with the camera with in 10 days. SB900 looks nice but pricey...

Also looking at the battery grip for sure, need to order it asap.
