Default SHIRAKIPHOTO: Fast Cars & Hot Girls

Hi my name is Jordan Shiraki of ShirakiPhoto. I'm based out of Las Vegas and specialize in automotive and high fashion photography.

Nicole Brown of DC Motors suggested me join this forum and I've met a number of really fantastic people in the few short weeks that I've been here. And I hope to contribute to L4P's continued success as one of the best forums on the internet.

My images are pretty self explanatory but I'll show some behind the scene shots as well as the final results which will give you a little glimpse of the process/what goes in to a successful photoshoot.

Feel free to visit my website:

Check out my blog for in depth behind the scenes commentary

My facebook can be found here. (just please state your from L4P when you add me so I know you're not a total stranger.)

And lastly instead of PMing me please just email me at jordan@shirakiphoto.com (because as some of you may know I don't respond very promptly to PM's )

Thanks again L4P for the warm welcome and I hope you enjoy my pictures.

    Megan TK

One of my favorite models is Megan. Shes a petite little blonde (1/4 Japanese 3/4 White) that wanted to look a little more mature, add a bit of height, and really pull off a high fashion look.

So my stylist and I first start out by putting together a little booklet for us and the model with basic guidelines as to how to wear the wardrobe and assemble things. Heres a little excerpt.

Then comes the wardrobe shopping with the model:

    Hair & Make Up
I'm so very lucky to have the opportunity to work with one of the best hair stylists and MUA's in Las Vegas. Her salon was rated #1 in Vegas and top 100 in the country and (enjoly garcia) is simply incredible and is a crucial tool in the success of my shoots.

Megan has a beautiful face and flawless skin but lacked a high fashion look. So we set off to totally transform her

    The Results

    17.

The black leggings really help to elongate her petite 5'4 inch frame. The dramatic make up and hair also helps to add a level of maturity to her look. And the styling came out just as envisioned by my wardrobe stylist cassandra.

    18.

This was all one image. No composites or anything like that. A single strobe was the only thing used to light her. And I stayed low to the ground while shooting up on her to give the illusion of added height.

    19.

This shot really shows off her beautiful skin to the point where you can see her individual pores. Click image for ultra high res.
However, what I really liked about this shot is the way she draws you into the camera with her gaze.

    20.

I was inspired by a couple images I had seen in vogue where a strong flash combined with a longer shutter speed was used to both freeze the model and add wispy ghost-like trails.

    21.

This is my favorite shot from the set. It really shows off the transformation from the young innocent looking megan to fully fledged high fashion model. The wardrobe was a great contrast to dusk sky over Red Rock. Her strong pose really shows off her jawline and elongates her neck which is always important with fashion photography.

    Hope you enjoyed the set!

Bryan's widebody 600hp/600tq FX turbo NSX.

One of my really good friends Bryan has built quite an amazing NSX

    1.

I'll first start off with the interior.

    2.

    3.

I used to be the head photographer at JTuned but have moved on since then. (just wanted to explain the JTuned watermarks)
I had access to his large warehouse and brought along my softboxes. These are some behind the scenes shots of how I lit the car for the interior photos.

    4.

    5.

    How I lit the shot.

    6.

    7.

This is the lighting setup I used for image #6. I reflected the wall over to the right side in post production to give the car and enclosed and menacing look.

    8.

    9.

    10.

    11.

    12.

All the colors are natural. The blue comes from the LED's and the red is from the emergency exit signs.

    13.

The warehouse was completely pitch black and I could not see a thing. I set my camera up for a 30 sec exposure and used 18 blue LED's and flailed my arms like an interpretive dancer giving it the effect of Tinkerbell on an acid trip.

Sick extended exposure, I've taken a few shots just like that. What were you using as a light? I like the blue color to the light, I've never thought of using colored LEDs.

    Thanks for sharing! Goregous shots
