    Default Suggestions Please...

I am not a camera expert but I would really like to shoot high quality pictures.

Could you comment on the most "dumb friendly" high quality camera I can get my hands on?

    Thanks.

I don't know much about photography, Rex but I would think one of those higher end Canon P+S would be enough. I have a Nikon D80 and most of the time I'm shooting in Auto. There are times when I just want the damn thing to take a picture and it won't. Gets kind of aggravating. Then again, I haven't invested much time in learning either.

    I am a 100% Photography N00b.

Prior to my D90 I used my iPhone, that was it.

Get a D90 you will LOVE it! It shoots AMAZING pictures, VERY easy to use, and records in HD!

Go play around and pick up a view. You wouldn't by a car before you test drove it would ya? Canon and Nikon are both intelligent and safe purchases. Pick them both up and see what feels best in your hands. I'm fairly positive I could take quality pictures with whatever camera you give me, but at the time that I bought my first camera, Canon's button layout and menu layout made more sense to me. I know for a lot of people, it is the other way around and they found Nikon's layout to be more comfortable. You just need to find what suits you. You are what takes the pictures. The camera is just a tool.

    Canon EOS Digital Rebel T1i

Canon T1i even has HD video. Should be out in a couple weeks.

T1i FTW...the Mark II is overkill for amateurs.

just got a point n shoot from either canon or nikon. dont bother with a dslr, cause it seems that will be overkill for your needs.
