Due to an unfortunate turn of events and a drastic change in finances the wife and I are contemplating a drastic change. Before we only had a couple of things holding us back and now we do not. We are seriously considering a move to Seattle or the surrounding area. What is the economy doing up there? Job availability? We would both be looking for a job before moving of course but we were interested in finding out more from people that live up there. Any help would be great.

The economy is crazy as it is everywhere. I don't know how to compare to other parts of the U.S. other than what we read in the papers. Overall I always hear how WA state is a better economic place than almost anywhere in the U.S.

Well my wife and I have settled on Bellingham for a while. I have some family there so we can use their connections for work. We are not picky on jobs as long as the bills are paid. We have a nice lake house already lined up and things are taken care of here in Vegas. All we have left now is for both of us to find jobs up there.

Job market is bad *everywhere* including here. I personally have 3-4 friends who recently got laid off and they had solid jobs. But as long as you have good qualifications, I think you can find work in any economy.

Both of us are very well rounded as far as experience goes so I am confident we can find something. Plus we can really hustle if we need to.

welcome to the PacNW man. You're not looking for any kind of work in particular? Feel free to PM if you want.
