So as you can see, there are quite a few distinguishing characteristics about my car. The story so far:
My evo was stolen today at the Woodbridge, New Jersey Mall between 5 and 6 p.m. this evening on Dec. 26, 2011. I parked my car in front of Dick's Sporting Goods a bit before 5 p.m. and proceeded to enter the mall after locking my car. When I exited the mall around 6 p.m., my car was gone. I am not from New Jersey, I live in Staten Island, NY and had traveled there to check out some of the stores I don't have back home. Full description of the car is above, pics will be posted below.
I'm still trying to process what happened today, I had that car for almost 4 years. It was my 340 whp, 112 mph trap speed daily driver and had treated me so well for how much use it saw, 66,000+ miles with me behind the wheel, NYC winters and all. Please help me find it everybody I just got home after a lengthy session with the local police and my federal law enforcement connections, in addition to my other contacts. A LOT of people are looking for this car, the word is out on many other forums(iwsti, nagtroc, etc.), websites, twitter feeds, and facebook groups as of right now.
I know I was followed into the mall, this guy was hanging around me for whatever reason a good portion of my time there, probably being the "spotter" for the crew outside. Unfortunately it clicked for me after it was too late. I know it's a shot in the dark given how efficient professional criminals are, but if the thing is still intact I'd like to see it again. And I want my damn sunglasses back.
To everyone who made it this far, thank you so much for your time and please spread the word
On to the pics:
***These were taken awhile ago, but the car looks the same minus the front lip and is sitting a bit lower on coilovers****

Sucks. Might be good to quote the text and pics from there so people don't have to go back and forth. Hopefully he gets it back soon. Also a little question for anyone who can answer it. Why are evos stolen so often? I see a lot of threads about them being stolen.

One thing is that they are notorious for being easy to steal, don't quote me on this but I think its that it is real simple to just swap the ecu and start it right up. Same thing with sti's. But usually these cars come modded and it's also real easy to just disassemble the car and sell all the parts separately. Same thing goes for integras etc.

If they stole it in wood bridge, chances are it's in Newark and or Elizabeth. My instinct tells me Newark. My next door neighbor got his car stolen at 3:30 am from his driveway. They actually backed out his Nissan through my other neighbors lawn to get the car out because his truck was in the way. We went crazy searching for it, something told me to check in Newark, 3 hours later we saw it in the corner of what appeared to be a chop shop, waiting to be taken it, they even had a look out outside. My neighbor took the keys, open the car, got in and drove away, eventually we called the cops, they fingerprinted etc, etc. Turned out the guy dropped his cell phone in the driveway when it happened, and the cops were able to trace his phone. I live in a suburb kind of town, mostly wealthy families, who don't lock their cars, keep their windows open and they try to hit areas like ours all the time.. my best guess is that your car is in Newark, it has the highest car thief rate and most cars that get robbed within Woodbrige, Kearny, Rahway, etc, etc end up there either waiting to get chopped up and or already in pieces "/ If I hear or see anything though, I will pm you.

it's not that the ecu is easy to remove and replace, because than you'd have to program the ecu to start the car.what makes them easy to steal is not really something i can disclose(i work for mitsu
i'll make a couple posts, as i don't live there but know some that do- Dave
most of what i say is a joke, unless it's serious
