Question about NJ speeding ticket
So today I was stopped for doing what the cop wrote as 54MPH in a 35MPH (14MPH over the speed limit)
The officer however check the box for 15-19MPH over, rather than 10-14MPH over...How is this going to play out?
I am 23, had a few tickets when I was 17, but no points really other than a 2 point ticket I got just almost 3 years ago (will be 3 in march). The court is West Windsor/Princeton Junction

First, check your math. 54 in a 35 is 19 over. Second, do you live in NJ?

Haha, no worries. The reason I ask is because NJ does not report to all other states. I am fairly certain that your most recent ticket has had some impact on you insurance rates (since it's been within the past three years), and this one will also. To avoid points in NJ, most prosecutors will allow you to plead guilty to unsafe driving, if you haven't done it before. They do this because they just care about money, and there is a $250 charge, just for this plea. Plus the cost of the ticket, so your total will be close to $500.

2 choices: 1) pay the fine and get the points or 2) take unsafe driving and after all the costs get no points but have to pay somewhere around 600

was it west windsor/princeton jct cop or a plainsboro cop? West Windsor cops arent terrible. I'd plead gulity and try to get no points. Either way you'll be paying a large sum of money, might as well pay a large sum up front instead of a large sum up front and high insurance for the next couple years or so.
