hmm not sure, the airport was still fully functional, we keep trying to get them to close it for the day so we can make use of the runway for the event. To really make a bad ass event!

I can't count on both hands how many times someone said, "so how long is the runway?"

People itching to be in the 200 mph club I guess.

2 People have had the experience of driving down that runway... Unfortunately, I dont think its long enough for 200... in a 360 I bet it would be good for <150

I was waiting in line for the copter ride, but I must've heard 4 or 5 burnouts. What happened to those guys?

Same guy would rip down the road, stop, turn around and do it again... he did it over and over again till we had someone go over there and stopped him till the police showed up. Cop told us he got a pretty heafty fine

Glad he got a fine. It takes an idiot or two to mess up an event. Or a place to hold an event.A charity none the less.

"I know Ricky is here right now, smiling at us" The event wasn't even over and I knew we already had a successful event, the amount of money we raised and the number of cars were irrelivant at that point. The electricity that carried the hype of Cars and Copters 2011 for 4 weeks definately made its way to Plymouth, and it could be felt by everyone, including the Hoffman family, who were greatly touched by the incedible support for the event we honor their son with.

The official numbers are 876 cars passing through the main gate(that we clicked in) but there were another 150-200 cars that made there way to the parking section on the back field as well as some of the cars coming on to the main field. With generous donations, raffle prizes, the silent auction, golf ball drop and helicopter rides we were able to raise $7,000 this year. This is almost 3 times what we raised last year. There are a few more donations we are waiting on so we are hoping this climbs a little higher. At 12am we had 881 attending RSVPs, more than 600 more than last year. These numbers don't tell the whole story of Cars and Copters this year, though.

In the weeks, days, hours leading up to CnC 2011 my news feed was filled with invites from club promoters, photographers, and businesses; over 12,000 invites in total were sent out. I was getting messages from people(some of you who I have never met) asking to volunteer, just doing anything to do your part to help us. While we would like to take the credit for this event, if you all didnt step in to help us with parking cars, inviting friends and in some cases family, and donating prizes it would have been just another charity car show.

With so much positive going on, on Sunday, I am sad to say the event did not go off with out a hitch. At this point it is unclear if it was someone from the show, the body shop across the street, or someone out for their Sunday drive that wanted to demonstrate that they know how to push the right pedal. In anycase there is a time and a place for everything, and that was neither the time, nor the place. Too much work by the organizers and the community go in to this event to have a few challenge the safety and well being of our patrons. A number of great events in the area have been shut down because of folks with a lack of respect and maturity, in 2012 we will be forced to incur extra expenses for a police detail.

If Cars and Copters 2011 is a taste of things to come, it is scary to think that we may no longer be able to fit our event at an airport in 2012. While we have barely finished this year's event, the planning has already begun for September 16th, 2012 so keep an eye out. On behalf of the organizers, thank you for all you have helped us achieve this year. This event was as good as it was because you all helped make it that way.

And as a little bit of a personal note, I want to thank a number of folks... Our sponsors: Edited out and a very special thanks to my co organizers removed; and a few forums, for allowing a competing forum to suck up bandwidth. If you are apart of these forums, make sure to check them and there sponsors/vendors out...
