Be extra careful in NY...WOW!!
For those that don't know, this is what it means: The Bill was approved by the NY Senate Transportation Committee. The Bill punishes, among other things, drivers who drive more than 30 miles an hour over the speed limit while racing, pursuing other vehicles, or excessively weaving in and out of traffic by imprisonment of up to FOUR years for Aggravated Reckless Driving, and would be a class E felony.
S3452-2011 - NY Senate Open Legislation - Establishes the crime of aggravated reckless driving - New York State Senate“I’m sorry, but having an Aston Martin DB9 on the drive and not driving it is a bit like having Keira Knightley in your bed and sleeping on the couch. If you’ve got even half a scrotum it’s not going to happen.” - Jeremy Clarkson

Crap. Well that may be the end of the Exotic Rallies too. I was in a pack of Ferraris on the highway doing over 140mph for at least 10 miles straight. So we would get arrested for that?
Also, when will this go into law?
You know what screw it, thats what a good lawyer is for.

Certainly not the end of ER. If anything it will strengthen our position with law enforcement and politics. I have a meeting later this week with a Senator in regards to an alternative venue for car gatherings and I already have the wheels in motion regarding controlled runs/police escorts.
The law will take effect if passed Nov. 1, 2011. Still not passed and may never pass. Only time will tell.
Plain and simple, the best place for high speed driving, passing etc would be the track, hence the reason I'm taking a membership at Monticello Motor Club. If anyone is interested their entry level $25k level is only available until the end of May. I'm close friends with the owners and can assist anyone in a "taste of the track" which would be applied to the membership.
It's really the safest and most luxurious way to enjoy our cars to their fullest potential.

Well that sucks.
I was under the impression (maybe its a law already on the county books), that 20mph over was already reckless and punishable by time behind bars and/or immediate revocation of license?2009 BMW 335i Coupe - Delivered 7/24/09
