^yes and yes....especially if you don't know the city that well cabbies are the best....you could attempt the subway though

NYC has more than enough stuff for every body. It really depends on what type of thing you're into. You certainly don't have to shell out the kind of money places like Del Posto charge for dinner. There are tons of fine dining places for less money. But Del Posto is a classic. Google is your friend though, when I want to try something new I do as much research as possible, unless you get a recommendation here that sounds good or from a friend. Just walking around and choosing a place can be very hit or miss there are so many places that really aren't good, it's hard to find the good ones.
