June 27th - RC Dolner Exotic Car Run - Only a few spots left
Welcome to the 2010 RCDolner Exotic Car Tour
Gents,
First wanted to say I miss all of you, and yes of course I mean that in a sexual way. Anyway I think I told a few of you about the RC Dolner Rally I went on last year. Where our rallys certainly blew this one away when I came to riding hard and and extracurriculars, as for automotive eye candy this was by far the most impressive meet I have ever been fortunate to attend. In fact, my E93 M3 technically wasn't "on the list" of invited cars, and although they might have let me in if I asked the main reason I was allowed to participate was that it benefited a soldier related charity and ended at West Point.
Last year well over 100 cars participated. You can see some of the photos on the website, but here is a quick rundown of what showed up - around a dozen each F430s and GT3s; half a dozen each LP640s, LP560s, GT2s, and Ford GTs; a CGT, an Alfa 8c, a SLR McClaren, a CLK 63 black series; Fisker Tramanto. The SSC Ultimate Aero (currently tops Bugatti as the fastest production car in the world) even made an appearance. Tons of Z06s, vipers, turbo p-cars and a whole host of others as well. As for the drive, some of the guys were pushing it, but it was more of a gentlemanly stroll through the north jersey "countryside" and NYs Hudson Valley. It ended with the world class bruch at the Thayer Hotel, West Point.
They are highly selective in autos but if you meet the criteria (on the website) I would get at them quick as they are reaching their quota. And if you do go please do the right thing and leave the decals on and be generous at the auction. The whole thing is free, as the sponsor companies pay for the brunch and incidentals in addition to donating the big chunks to charity (last year the two charities - one benefitting the children of fallen soldiers and the other benefitting scleroderma research - each received $75,000). In return the participating cars are suppose to rock the decals the whole ride, and then there is an auction during the brunch. Last year the auction was weak (granted it had a terrible auctioneer and was a bit rushed) and a lot of the top cars removed their decals for the ride. The decals are soft magnets which I doubt would tarnish a detail.
Overall its an incredible event, and after its over groups were getting together for spirited drives back south. I am not sure if anyone from here participated although James (Mobile Addictions) were you one of the lambos there? There was also a Lambo (I think it was a yellow Gallardo Superleggera) with the tight license plate "Bullowme" that was familiar as well.
I was asked to do this again but alas I am stuck down south. Hope a few can make it though and represent L4P at this great event!
