Default 2nd Annual Drive and Show for a Hero - NY/NJ

This event is scheduled for Veterans Day - Sunday, November 11th, 2012 in Westwood NJ, 07675.

A very good friend ours, USMC Sgt. Christopher Hrbek, was on his 4th tour in the middle East in January 2010, and while on patrol, he stepped on an IED and was killed instantly.

Chris, and his brothers and sisters grew up together with my wife, and once I met her, they became as much a part of my life as well. A truly great family – Chris’ stepfather Jamie is the deputy fire Chief in Westwood, Chris’ brothers were all on the Westwood fire department (now they are FDNY), and Chris was a 9 year veteran of the Westwood Fire Department as well. You couldn’t ask for a more standup, and dedicated family.

So a while back when talking with the family, they wanted to put together a car show in his honor, and to help benefit his scholarship fund. I told them I would do as much as I could to help.

Now I know myself and others on here are not really ‘car show’ kind of people, so I wanted to setup a drive in the morning, and then end at Westwood’s Veterans Park where the car show will be held. Figure we would meet in Fort Lee around 8-8:30am, do about a 1.5 hour drive, end up in Westwood, where we will be served lunch at the Iron Horse Restaurant.

The car show is from 10:30am – 2pm. (Spectators are free, and are encouraged to stop by and see the cars)

Drivers fee is $60, and $50 for passenger. Includes lunch, door prizes, honorary sticker, and a few other odds and ends. No need to pre-pay, cash or check the day of the event is fine.

Chris’ family will also had out a few trophies for their favorite cars. For more info on Chris or his charity, please visit Sgt. Christopher R. Hrbek

The event will be covered by the local news papers, and they have notified News 12 about the event, so possible TV coverage for anyone looking for their ‘big break’.

Attached is a flyer I printed, as well as the official poster they made up.

We also made a Facebook page that has some info and pics from last years show -

I know some of you on here joined us for last years show, and it would be great to see all of you and some new faces this year!

Let me know if you're interested, and I’ll add you to the list. Space is limited to about 50 cars. They have reserved the entire Veterans Park for us, and Westwood is a very nice, safe town – about 15 minutes from the GWB.

Thank you all for your support!

It's too bad you can't make it this year - we have some great stuff planned for those that attend.
