Maybe I'm just naive, but does the autopilot land the planes these days too? In several landing shots it looked like their hands were only working switches, but maybe the hands were just out of view.
some planes are equipped with an autoland system. I think some of the newer 737's are the smallest but I could very well be wrong. its called a Cat III approach
This is exactly what got me into what I'm doing now....I got to sit in the cockpit of an Airbus A330 (I think it was) when I was 7 for landing at Shannon Airport at night in Ireland. Ever since then I've wanted to fly! On Monday I'll be taking my pre-checkride examination for my rotorcraft private pilot's license!
