New movie from Christopher Nolan (Dark Knight) with Di Caprio.

Looking good so far:

Gotta agree with a couple of the guys who are saying this movie was "ok". I came in the theatre with no expecations really......
I walked out thinking the movie was cool, but predictable and a wanna be matrix

* I didnt really bond with any of the characters (didnt really care if any of them died or didnt succeed)

* Too many holes in the sequence of events unless I am missing some things

Looking forward to seeing shutter island now that I am reading a few people's reccommendation. I thought Toy Story 3 was this Summer's best movie so far (flame suit on!!!)

If you're on the level of comparing this film to the Martix I don't think it will ever be better than ok. Inception brings about some basic concepts of reality vs subconscious but it's nothing like the Matrix. I thought the characters and acting was superb, although I agree I didn't really connect to any one of them. I'm not sure what holes you're talking about but I thought the great thing about this movie was it's complexity and ability to come full circle leaving no loose ends....until the end.

And as for TS3, I thought it was one of the best as well. :)

Finally watched Inception. Amazing movie.
But what's even more amazing, that how Nolan approached the movie (just read through that explanation website of Inception).
I searched for some directors of the present who somehow reflect genius directors such as Coppola or Kubrick, especially after
watching Hearts of Darkness: A Filmmaker's Apocalypse last night. That documentary and how much a human being can put into
art, while nearly destroying him- or herself plus the koverall kind of movies Kubrick was doing, made me think if we even have
such geniuses when it comes to making movies. And I think that Nolan has the potential of heading into that direction.

Edit: Just wanted to clarify my statement a little. For my personally this time isn't just capable of bringing up someone like Coppola
or Kubrick, but as for now, I think Nolan is doing a pretty good job of providing us with some quality movies.

You love Kubrick, eh? lol.

Did you see Shutter Island? It's a way better film than Inception. Why? Character connection, and by keeping the film more authentic by managing to not over complicate it. Truly talented directors/auteurs, in my humble opinion, are judged not by how fancy they can make a movie but how much they can strip away from the forefront and leave to the audience to decipher.

If you liked the movie in a movie explanation... Do yourself a favour and watch Fellini's 8 1/2 or Kiarostami's Life and Nothing More. Quality over quantity.

I should have been born a generation earlier... lol.

My thoughts exactly. Watched Inception yesterday, and I liked it, BUT Shutter Island was better
