Blues: Buddy Guy
Got lucky enough to see Blue man Buddy Guy over the weekend here in Southern Oregon at the Britt festival and OMG if you have a chance to see him DO IT, one of the best shows I've ever seen at Britt.
He opened for George Thorogood who ws also good but Buddy made him work for it. He put on a great show it's very apparent he loves to perform live, he spent alot of the show out in the crowd sing and playing and interacting with us. He not just a singer but also a entertainer and I think a must see before he's gone. I've now seen alot of the great here at Britt and Buddy is by far, one of if not the best, I've seen.
The funny thing is we were have dinner before the show and I asked my wife who is this Buddy Guy, is he someone we need to see? Lucky for me she made me go. So if you have a chance GO, I don't normally post stuff like this but He really is that good, even if you don't care for blues make it a point to see him if you get the chance.

Wow, Buddy and Stevie that must of been very cool. I've seen BB king also that to was good but he didn't have the energy that Buddy has IMO.

That may be, but we really need to go see this old guy and gal before there gone. I's so cool to see the old timers that played for the love of there music and not just the money.

Had the pleasure of seeing Buddy Guy with Joe Cocker back in '95.
It's surreal when he just starts roaming through the crowd like that... Saw BB in a small club in the '90's as well, and that guy's presence just fills the room. Just incredible.
(introduced my kids to SRV recently, and if you've never seen Live at Montreaux 1982 or Live at the El Mocambo '83... do yourself a favor. Amazing.)Last edited by PCKStudio; 08-15-2008 at 02:43 PM. Reason: fat-fingered the keyboard again...

I saw Buddy Guy last year at the Blues Festival in Syracuse. Amazing performance. I've been playing Blues for years now and it was great to see someone I've looked upto for years. Now I need to see Jimmy Page and Clapton and I'll die happy.

Thanks PCK, I'll take a look. Today music just dosen't have the soul of the old guys now for the most part it's all about the money and not the music(just my take).

I hear you... and no sweat. Definitely check those two out. SRV also made a couple of appearances on Austin City Limits, and I think you can find those on DVD (he does "Voodoo Chile" like you've never seen/heard it before... Powerful.) Here's a version from Live at the El Mocambo 1983

I've never seen the man, but I did visit his club the first time I was in Chicago. We did get to see Jimmy Burns though. I'm not sure how he ranks on the scale of bluesmen, but I thought it was a great show. I even bought his CD which he was kind enough to autograph for me!
