I was all about Ducati until I tried the BMW... If I was in the market, I'd be going BMW... While its a beast, I think its a better daily ride.

I love Ducati, I have owned a 748s and 749R. Cant beat them for weekend and track day rides. If you are looking for a daily bike the bmw

BMW for sure.
Ive ridden a ton of Ducati's but the feel and technology of the S1R is really nice and I like the reliability of BMW better than Ducati. The Magnetti Marelli wiring setups on the Ducati's has never impressed me.I MAKE BALLER CARS MORE BALLER......

I love my Ducati, and I don't think I can ever bring myself to change. I have the base 1198, wish I could have afforded the S model at the time. To me, nothing beats the look of Ducati Superbikes, although that is personal preference. But if I am being completely honest, I feel like the BMW would be a little bit smoother (the L-twin is a bit rough if you're lugging it) and worlds more comfortable, not to mention less expensive. While Ducati always lives up to my expectations, you are shelling out quite a bit for the name.

I think Ducati has the best combination of looks/sound/performance. I love my monster 796 and when I have the means I'll have a superbike in the garage with it!

If you're shopping new, save the $ and pick up the new Pangiale. If the numbers are true, will be re-writing what Ducati's will be for the next few years. Bang for buck the BMWs the best package in regards to electronics & power, however I don't feel the quality is there. I'll trade you 15 of that HP for something that tracks and grips straight away at the track without having to modify anything.

The BMW is probably the best bike ever ! Maybe less magic then a Ducati . . .
My little contribution, hope you'll enjoy :
