My Mini Build Thread and Photo Shoot of 2005 R6
Several months back I got the opportunity to take a bike from rough back to it's former glory. My friend that owned the bike before ended up doing some minor damage to the bike after it got knocked over in his driveway. I had never intended to buy a crotch rocket but he gave me an offer I couldn't refuse and got to buildin'! I took her looking like this:

Once the bike was disassembled we removed the beat up wheels and tires and dropped them off at the local powder coating shop for a little refresher. Wheels before & after:

As the powder coating shop was working on freshening up the wheels, I dropped all my plastics off to get prepped and painted. The painter/ bodyman that worked on this project has done a few things for me before. Each time I've been happy with the final product. Shane saved me some major coin with this project by taking two damaged headlight assemblies and making one. Looks like a brand new headlight. Of course, no condensation or problems since!
I wanted to do a matte paint scheme but wanted it to have some depth and not be mistaken for primer. We found a color chip from Land Rover, Shane painted several test panels in differing flatness and this is what we came up with.

Plastics finished, wheels painted, time to assemble.

Once the plastics were back and assembly had began we thought on the home stretch, but like every project we ran into a speed bump or two. When mounting the front fairing and windshield we noticed the fairing stay would need to be replaced. No problem. A hundred bucks later and we are in business. Sits like this until we get a new clip-on:

Clip on finished, and now just a few fairing bolts from completion:

Finished up! Went out for a maiden voyage and snapped a few iPhone shots on this impromptu photoshoot! More to come by someone that knows what they're doin'!

Exhaust was switched from the beat up D&D to a an aluminum fiber MIG slip-on.

At first I truly hated the seat but it is staying for now. Hit me up if you have a Corbin!
