The Old BMW Motorcycle With A Secret Note

When Bill Costello's father died in 2009, he left a moldering 1958 BMW R50 which hadn't been started in 40 years — along with a secret note for his son. This is the tale of what happened next.

Richard Costello bought the bike new in 1958, putting 60,000 miles on it before an accident. Bill Costello didn't know anything about motorcycles, and didn't even ride them, when his father died of a stroke at the age of 71. That didn't stop him from plunging ahead, enlisting the help of a top-notch BMW expert along the way.
    That's very cool!

That is amazing. Wow. One of those things that is passed from generation to generation. That made my night. Proud to drive a BMW

+1 great story! Hoping to do the same with my 93 325 with 233k on the clock. Granted I did buy it as a semi-beater with 229k this past fall, I still plan on keeping it for as long as it runs.
