Question regarding Yamaha financing
Hey guys, so after looking for used bikes and not being able to find anything that I really felt comfortable or safe riding at the right price; I went to the International Motorcycle show in NYC to sit on a bunch of the new bikes. I felt really really comfortable on the '10 GSXR 600 and Ninja 600. However buying these new bikes would be difficult because neither company has really been offering any attractive deals aside from beating each others prices.
I recently heard from a friend who saw a Yamaha commercial advertising 0 down and 100 dollars a month for 3 years on the R6 and I think R1 models. I didn't like the '10 R6 as much as the other two mentioned above but this is a hard deal to pass up. Now, I've never financed anything and I can't really say that I have a line of credit because I don't own a credit card, just my debit, I'm only 22. I was wondering if anyone who owns, or has obtained financing from Yamaha could tell me how hard it would be to qualify for their financing programs or if it would be impossible. I could ask my father to buy the bike in his name and I could make the payments as a last resort.
I plan on calling a local dealer to get more details, but any input that you guys could share would be greatly appreciated.

three reason why this is a bad idea.
1.a motorcycle is a toy. never finance a toy...go to the wera forum...lots of cheap bikes for sale that are kept in great condition...
2. dont know how it works with yamaha but some dealers require full comp insurance coverage when financing...at 22 full coverage on a supersport will be a lot...might be even more than the bike is worth..
3. if this is your first bike...you will drop it most likeyly...way easier on the ego to drop an older bike..than a shiney new r6r that you are making payments on...
just how i see it.

If you can't pay cash you don't need it...

Well it's not that I can't afford it. It's just I guess I was trying to find as good a deal as possible on a bike that I liked and felt comfortable on and was relatively new. Also I'm a student in my final semester and rather than spend the money I have saved up now, in case something happens during the semester, I figured if I financed I could begin smaller payments before the semester ended and start riding. One of my biggest fears is not riding for a long period of time and losing some of the practical skills that I learned during my MSF course.
I'm 5'11 maybe 6' with boots. I've been riding for about 4 months casually. What I mean is that I took a lot of private lessons and then took an MSF course over the course of 4 months. My original budget for a used bike was no higher than four thousand on a 600cc bike because of the ones I was looking at. I didn't really like the styling on some and others just didn't feel comfortable or were heavier than some of the newer bikes. Most of them were owned by more than one owner and I really wasn't looking to pay that much at the time.
Since I'm nearing the end of my last semester I suppose on an older bike, I'd be willing to spend no more than five to 6 thousand considering I could probably find a new bike for eight. It would also depend on the bike, if I really like it I might be willing to go a bit higher.
Thanks for the support all around.

Cool, at this point there's no rush. I think I'm just going to take my time. After calling the dealer near me they weren't very specific about details of the deal, seemed like they really didn't care. My best friend's uncle also owns and runs a bike shop and has some used bikes that I could check out, so I plan to do that when he's back from a trip.
