How is the 848 for daily riding and commuting? I don't plan on tracking it often.

The 848/1x98 Superbikes really aren't that great for simply commuting or street riding. I'd suggest looking into the 848 Streetfighter or 1098 Streetfighter. With the SF family you get damn-near 85% of the performance of the superbikes, but in a much more comfortable ergonomic layout.
The superbikes can be a tiring bike to ride when you aren't being active on it. I just make it work as a double-duty bike because I'm limited to one bike at the moment, and I knew that with my primary focus in bikes being learning in a controlled enviornment, a sportbike was the best option for me.
Another option could be the new 1199 Panigale. I got to test ride one last month and it is a God honest superbike for the street. Clip-ons are wider set and higher, so rider triangle isn't as canted forward as previous Ducati Superbikes. Turn-in is a DREAM compared to my 848....might be the combo of the wider bars and smaller offest steering. Electronics galore to tailor preferences to. Seems like a great all-around bike that won't make you feel like you HAVE to break speed limits or physically work to enjoy it.
Hope this helps your decision.

Good Day Everyone
I didn't see an intro thread for newcomers so I guess I'll make it right here, right now, starting with a few pics of my current ride. I'm not one for buying bikes just to have them sit around, look pretty and collect dust. I buy bikes to ride them and ride them hard. Judging by some photos I've seen I assume a good deal of you do the same and make use of your bikes on the track and such. If any of you live near the east coast here in the U.S. and ever frequent New Jersey Motorsports Park let me know. I do most of my trackdays there so if you see me stop by and say "Hi!"
