Default Fabspeed Motorsport, MP4-12C Project Car

    Hello Everyone,

Our latest project car is the McLaren MP4-12C. We have a very good, repeat customer who has lend us his car for development work. We are planning on making a new sport catalytic converter section, as well as new X-pipe exhaust (as an alternative to the expensive H-pipe exhaust Mclaren offers as an option). We may also consider a few other items, so please stay tuned to the progress.

Please feel free to call, email or PM me at any time with any questions you may have. Thanks!

Below are some new photos which show the the factory sport exhaust option ($5,000). Our X-pipe exhaust will certainly be less! Also, notice the factory cats (with two sets of cats per side)... they look very restrictive. I am not sure of the exact cell count, but we estimate 750-1000 CPSI. We will be using the latest HJS 200 cell cats for our sport cats. Please let me know if you have any questions. Thanks!

    Hey Everyone,

Since we are still waiting for a new set of catalytic converter cores from HJS in Germany, we have had time to just about finish the rest of the exhaust system. As you can see from the pictures, we have also made a set of optional quad tips. We have designed the system to be used with either the factory tips or our quad tips. The tips turned out a lot better than we thought and are also available with a black ceramic coating. Let me know what you think. I will give you an update about the cats as soon as they are finished. Thanks!

Very nice work guys. I can't wait to see what you guys do with this. Especially the before and after videos. 200 cell cats? How about an option for straight pipes ?? I think that would be over the top on this car.

On a side note, although the quad tips are nice, I think it looks out of place on the car. Maybe using black instead of chrome? And perhaps something that sits more flush? Although I'm partial to the factory exhaust tips. I think they look the best due to the design of the rear exhaust opening.
I don't know which is better getting paid or getting laid, all I know is while I'm doing one the others getting away.

Fully agree with you. One up would be a Titanium version.

We will be making a cat bypass section as well, but I think most customers will opt for the 200 cell sport cats. We may try to get these tips coated in black so we can see what they look like (or at least photoshop them black).

    Hey Everyone,

We have finished our three main exhaust components and have dyno tested each one. I will post up the graphs at some point, but here are the results we saw (by the way, our stock car was equipped with the factory sport exhaust option):

    Fabspeed X-pipe muffler: +8hp
    Fabspeed X-pipe and 200 cell sportcats: +28hp
Fabspeed X-pipe and cat bypass pipes: +40hp

We have shot videos of the different setups and we are currently editing them into a nice video. For now, enjoy this quick cell phone clip of the car on the dyno... make sure you wait until the end!

    Thanks,

    Jeff
