    Default Thoughts on a 2008 CL65 AMG

    So my brother in law has a wild hair up his a$$ and is really thinking for buying a 2008 CL65. He really likes the car but is worried about reliability issues. This will not be his daily driver but more of a weekend car. What do you guys think about this car and what have you heard? It is a V12 twin turbo.

    For what it's worth - I'm new to the Mercedes brand but love everything about my AMG. Can't speak too much as far as reliability goes but I understand they are bulletproof.

    You cant own that car without a Fidelity PLATINUM Warranty. That's the only warranty worth a damn for AMG cars... Either that or budget a minimum of $3K a year for repairs. Any major failures and you will have a 5-8K bill quick. Have him flash the ECU using Eurocharged Performance. +80HP/120TQ with no tools. You will have to remove the ECU and send it to Jerry on any 07'+ 65AMG car.

    Thanks for the info..
    He found 2 of them 1 was kinda thrashed the other needs a rear main seal and some other small stuff. He's still looking.....

    I currently own and have owned another 65 engined car and have had ZERO problems with them. About 6 years of ownership between the 2 cars. I beat on them pretty good too.

    ***UPDATE***

    He got the car and holly crap this thing is a beast!! It is in almost new condition, previous owner was a CEO of a big company and hardly ever drove it. On the freeway if your going 70 and punch it in manual mode it holds 3rd gear all the way till 110+mph an just keeps pulling. His only plan as far as mods go is tint and a performance chip. Thanks for all the info!!
