Does this happen when performing a cold start? Or even when oil is warm?
And just right after starting it or having started and accelerating?Last edited by 6.3 ///AMG; 05-12-2011 at 07:00 PM.

Is the car stock? I had the same issue on my 2007 S550, I have gone through this before..

This happened to my wife. It was a bad crank sensor. Car died while getting onto the on ramp. She was driving and everything just shut down, including brake pressure. Good thing she was going slow.

Are you letting the car warm up or starting and immediately putting in gear?
Crank sensors are usually after the car is warm.Driving: 2006 Mercedes S600

If it stops only when you are stopped in drive or park, check your PCM. Mine was acting similar on my car and that ended up being it. It was sporadic and everything else was okay. It took the dealership 3 weeks to diagnose it properly.
