Thread: Opinions on 2003/04 e500.

I'm considering buying one and would like to know your opinions on the car itself. I've never had a german car before (family only has had Japanese cars), and first thing I'd like to address is that coilovers will replace the stock suspension; that way I wont have to worry about those hydro's.


Pro's and Con's of the car?
Can a lot of the work be DIY?
Parts and pricing. Too expensive for the age or fairly priced and "easily" located from vendors.


The car is going to be used mainly as a cruiser.

Great Car go for 04 or 05 if you can 03 had more problems it was a first model year. I had a e320 and loved it. Not many problems the only things I had to do was the engine and tranny mounts. Change the shocks for sure and your set. Parts are easy to find and there are tons of diys out there. Good luck!

If all you have are Japaneese cars the E500 will be the best and one of the most reliable cars you've ever owned make sure you get a good mechanic that isn't gonna screw you over on it
