    Default 1986 300E opportunity.

I found a 1986 300E for sale the other day and I was wondering if its worth buying. I know very little about Mercedes Benz's but this would be a beautiful summer car to have. Here's the story behind this car:
It has 162000 miles on it. The owner who's selling it has all the records of their time owning it (They bought it with 10K miles on it). It runs on unleaded fuel and runs beautifully. It looks like its in almost perfect condition. The previous owner drove it only a couple miles every day to the beach and to the store, and during the winter it sat in the garage. It never touched any snow and doesn't have a hint of rust. There isn't a blemish on the car, inside or out, with the exception of a tiny dent in the back right bumper.
Power mirrors, power locks, automatic gear shift, ABS, power steering, leather, and a sunroof. (I think it had a tape deck)

The owner told me that in 10000 miles it will need new rear brakes, new spark plugs, and transmission fluid. And for that they're taking $500 off the price.
They also mentioned that they put a lot of oil in it because it has a small oil leak, but not burning oil. They've been putting oil in it every 400 or so miles. (I don't know what the deal is with that. They said that this model car has always had an issue with that. I know nothing about it, but I'm hoping someone here does.) Overall, they took excellent car of this fine automobile. Asking $2500.

This car wouldn't be a replacement, but I would drive it in the summer to the beach and to work (I only work in the summer). It would be a nice car to have to take out on a nice day.

Any opinions about it? Will it be trouble if I got it? What's up with that oil leak? Is$2500 a good price? I'm having a tough time uploading pics, but that's all the info you need to know. It's sort of a tealish color.
    Wait, what?

i love the 300e's it was one of my first cars, great car and very reliable. The problem I am seeing with this one is that it is a bit high, or at least for what you are getting. Where I am i can get a prestine model with no work needed for about 2g, this one will need a good amount of work. And besides this the oil leak is a bit of a problem because if the top end needs to be rebuilt you are going to be paying through the nose to get it done by someone if you cant do it yourself. If i were you i love these cars but i would hold off on it, and wait for a better one unless you could get this for around 1400, so you have wiggle room
