I had and have had many german cars and they are the best IMHO for a DD. I do have a ferrari 360 spider with tons and tons of mods and agree that the italian cars are just freakin sexy and there no other car that sounds or gives you the feel of sitting in her.
is the 360 reliable? I love Ferrari(s). I want a 430 or a 2012 Bentley Continental GT as my next car perhaps.

If would be interesting to compare import numbers. I suspect the number of M5s imported to the US is around the same number of QPs imported each year.

I own a '06 QP and it is my daily. I have the duo select and it has given me NO issues since buying it. Jerky? I guess so, but if you have it in MANUAL mode, and shift properly, then it can be pretty smooth. In AUTO, it is a bit more jerky. Like others have said, it drives/rides/feels like an Italian sports car. It doesn't have the 'ride on a cloud' feel you get from other luxury auto's.

Maintenance and repair are 2 completely different things in my opinion. If properly maintained, I have found it to be very reliable and rewarding. BTW, my understanding is that the 'big' transmission issues were pre-06.
