Stay with 06 QP and higher and Sport GT. Faster shifts = longer clutch life. My 07 QP is in for 2 year service at dealer right now with 13K miles. Clutch is only worn 37%. I thrash on it.

The most important piece of advice I can give to N00Bs to manual transmission QPs is:

By design, the clutch does not fully lock up when using reverse gear. In other words = when using reverse, the clutch is slipping 20%. Do not back up hill for an extended period - like a really long uphill drive way - you can destroy a clutch in short order.

Remember the cambiocorsa IS A MANUAL TRANSMISSION WITH A CONVENTIONAL CLUTCH. Just like in your 3 pedal manual transmission, if you are parallel parking in an uphill parking spot - you are slipping the clutch (with your clutch foot) and are never at full lock up.

So here are the lessons to long clutch life in a QP:

#1. Avoid auto mode = lots of clutch slip for smoothness.

#2. Avoid backing up a hill, either very steep and/or for an extended period.

#3. drive in sport mode (put down the latte) and shift it manually = shorter shift times - less clutch slip.

In other words drive it like a sports car and your clutch will last. When was the last time a car rewarded you with less clutch wear, for driving spirited/aggressively?

AGREED!! I was lucky enough to learn this before I bought my Maser.
Some are not so fortunate! One guy on MasLife had just bought his, and backed up his very long steep driveway. Next day he said there was definitely something "not right"!

Here is one more rule of thumb. This is actually in the manual!

DO NOT LET OFF ACCELERATOR WHEN UPSHIFTING.

You always have the most to the point good advice. I have made all those mistakes on just a test drive LOL, now I know for the future purchase!

I have to say the QP is one of the sickest sedan's out there. However I am not sure if its more capable then a M5 in anything other then luxury and styling..
