Well i can definitely tell you the traditional automatik transmission is way more reliable then the F1-Transmission. the F1 is more "sporty" tho. but it needs a new clutch after 3 launch control starts. and those clutches don't come in cheap.

So without the f-1 trans i could use the car for a day to day car with relativly no more worries than my jag lets say ?
Would that be an accuret assesment of the vehicale ? Im realy drawn to the q/p but not enugh to put up with exsseive and repeative
problems!

well, i almost bought a gran tourism S once and test-drove on with a auto transmission, its smooth as silk and a wonderful daily driver and also makes a GREAT grand tourer. in my opinion the steering of the Maseratis is a bit to light, but thats just because I'm used to a bit heavier steerings.
I think the whole "reliability deal" is just a memory from italian cars from the 80's and 90's. lets be honest, those were more in the shop than in our garages. But with the new generations, and with the normal auto trans. i would say no worries
as we know, no manufacturer has ever perfected those F1 gearboxes. they are crap in every car. they are clumsy and make your head nod every time you change gear. the worst one ever is by far the "Sportshift" gearbox in Aston martins. the best one was the F1 in Ferraris 599 GTO, but still no match to a DCT.
but with a Standart Auto, there is really not much to go wrong.
to sum it up, there is not much stress on a gearbox with a torque-converter, so it almost never failes. it is smooth, but a bit slow.- 2011 BMW M3 E92
