Anyone else race Sailboats?
Who else on here races? I race Laser's and Star boats, and anything else I can get on.

I grew up racing JBoats. I crewed for years on a J 24 and a J 29. I have a Force 5 that I need to restore and get back on the water.

Jboats can be fun. Sailed for 6 years on a 22, went to the worlds and shit. Sailed the 109 NA's last month or whatever, had a blast. Also sailed a 29 and a 30, didn't like them so much. We hit 12 kts in the 30 though without a kite. Lost my phone that day which was in my "waterproof" duffel in the cabin... Turns out a 25 year old boat when it's blowing 25 sustained isn't the driest thing

I started sailing in college at the maritime academy I attend. I took a class on mercury sailing this fall and had the opportunity to race on J22's last week at the Houston yacht club.

Use to race V-15s on Friday nights and PHRF on Wednesday nights, never anything super competitive.

I started with Lasers then went to a 470 then to an International 14. I crewed on a Kirby 25 for several seasons and spent a few years racing a Thunderbird here for fun on Wednesday nights. It's been a few years since I last raced and often think about getting back into it. It's a great sport!

My dads raced sailboats here in Chicago my entire life. Used to do the MAC race and NOOD regatta every year and I believe won the NOOD for his class once or twice. I've always enjoyed the times I have gone (usually once a year if that even) but it is simply not my thing, I'd prefer a 42' Cigarette that can do 100mph.
We had a catalina, then a Beneteau 40, and now have a fully race fitted Capo 26. One of only I believe 5 in the world currently, real fast boat and when he had his best crew a few years back they were annually forced to race in a class above because the boat is so fast and his crew was together forever.
Always great to be on the water no matter the kind of boat, truly a great hobby"If you wake up in the morning knowing your getting a paycheck whether you work hard that day or not......you will never be rich"
