Default Race in Peace, big Daddy.. RIP Big Thunder Race Team

Just a quick post to let everyone know that the offshore racing world lost a truly spirited friend and competitor this evening.

After getting too loose in the straight away, Big Thunder 46 Skater flipped during race 1 of the key west world finals. Bob Morgan and his business partner JT both sustained injuries that eventually led to their untimely deaths.

It was a sad sight to see. Bob held MULTIPLE world championship titles and devoted his life to racing. He will truly be missed.
Bob's Skater never missed much action. With four 1100 hp Boyd engines and 4 #6merc drives, the boat was (and owner)one of the most unique in the offshore world.
The first cat I ever drove was Bobs 28 skater.

I have photos and videos I would like to post but I'm in Key West on my iPhone and can't get them uploaded.

RIP, old friend. Your life was, and will continue to be, celebrated this week by your boating family here.

There was another death on Friday as well on the last lap of the last race. Very sad. It was a very sad year for the boat races here.

Yes, You are correct. We lost Joey Gratton from Page Motorsports on Turn 2 during Friday's race.

The events from this weekend will absolutely rock the Offshore racing world. Last driver we lost was in 1995 at the worlds. And this year, we lose 3.

I just got home but have lots of pictures and videos. Once I get caught back up, I'll be sure to post them..I am still so stunned by all this that I have no idea what to even say. It was heartbreaking to say the least. I visited with Bob Morgans team and family after the wreck and they were all holding together pretty well. His funeral is tomorrow.

I actually went to middle school with the daughter of the owner of Page. I did not realize that there was another accident. RIP to all lost...
