Jetski Wear Ring
my 06 seadoo rxt sucked up some rocks over the weekend. They got caught on the impeller and put grooves on the wear ring. The wear ring needs replacement, since my low end torque is gone :-(.
Is this something that's easy to change out? Anyone done it before?
thanks in advance!

Alex, It is not a simple task. I had a Seadoo XP Limited and Seadoo GSX and same issue happened at the beach. It somewhat time consuming and better off dropping them off at a local marine shop and letting them handle it. If I remember correctly the actual piece isn't much but the labor is the cost end. If you "know a guy" then you might be ok.

Very time consuming call up Nielsens in Lake Villa
East bound and down, loaded up and truckin',
we're gonna do what they say can't be done.

knowing what you know now, would you buy these again? I am looking at a pair of 06 gtx's with about 100hrs each. Any thing in particular I should look for?

Some people do it easy...theres a few tricks..I've heard of a few people using a dremmel to score a line in it and get it out..others also use the freezer trick...put the whole pump in the freezer and the wear ring supposedly comes right out...ALOT of people will tell u these are silly to do because you should disassmble everything and replace all of the bearings etc....
Check out GreenHulk.net and all of your questions and more will be awnsered
Like mr Carter said..it's all labor, so find someone who knows there way around the skis and it will be mutch cheaper, or if your handy with a wrench and like to diy, check out the site I mentioned above

Its real simple and straight forward. Search for the how to on greenhulk.net
I normally just take it all apart and put the pump in the freezer for about 40 minutes along with the new wear ring.
When then pump has been in the freezer for that time its fairly easy to rubber mallet the old wear ring out.
When its out proceed to take the new wear ring out of the freezer and mallet it slowly into the pump in a perfect circle.
The only tool you might need is a large allen key socket, I forgot the size.
Save the money and do it yourself, a wear ring's about 60 bucks online and the socket about 20 at a local autopart.
Also make sure to check for damage to the impeller.

That's funny, Our Seadoo was running like crap about a month ago and after some research we figured out it was the wear ring. Ordered one off ebay and it's running like a Champ now. It was pretty simple to replace. It looks like there are more people qualified than me to explain so i'll step aside.
