    Default What do Marines generally call new recruits in the Marine Corps?

    Hi All;

    What do Marines generally call new recruits in the Marine Corps? In other words green horns who have either just gotten out of basic or are completely new to combat?

    Regards

    "Poolies" was for even newer guys...guys that JUST signed on the dotted line & were awaiting their bootcamp date. Poolies are the guys awaiting their life to be changed. Lol.

    In boot camp, u got called everyname in the book. From nice to not so nice. Devil dog, leatherneck, jarhead and even Marine were earned all jus to be called those names.

    In bootcamp everyone called you "Recruit". You spoke in 3rd person terms... "This recruit requests to go make a head call (to use the bathroom)...or "this recruit has is feeling I'll". You even called the other members in your platoon "Recruit". Sorry for the rant. Seeing thread brought back memories.
