If I were you, Id try some sno-bowl.. But dont let the feds catch ya puttin it in the lake, lol..
Nu-Hull works well too if youve got a reddish stain...
But when Im doin my own, I just use some of that gel style clorox toilet bown cleaner and cut it with some tap water JUST enought to be able to spray it, it doesnt take much.. That shit will take it off as fast as you can spray it.. But its not EPA/DEQ approved so just fyi for all you tree huggers..

I finally pulled the boat out of the water to put some new gaskets on the exhaust manifold and the underbelly wasn't as bad as I thought. Most of the time she's in the lift but sometimes I keep her in the water for 2-3 days at a time.

I'm planning to wet sand & polish my Nautique this fall after I winterize it. Would toilet bowl cleaner make my life easier by removing some of the surface stain that I would normally have to go through with the sandpaper or would it just be an extra step that adds to the total time I invest in the job?

Nope, gelcoated fiberglass is extremely resilient..
but, the real question here is what in the HELL were you doing with a 55 gal drum of toilet bowl cleaner in a residential neighborhood?! hahaha!
The hazmat reportable quantity on that is 400lbs, I wouldnt wanna be on the receiving end of THAT complaint from the DOT, lol!

I used to help around the warehouse for a chemical production company. They made all sorts of laundry detergents, fabric softeners, cleaners, acids, etc etc. They had made a test batch for a new client but had gotten the color wrong. They wanted a clear substance and it had a very slight tint of blue to it. Instead of just discarding it I bought the barrel for $10 bucks and lunch, loaded it in the back of the pickup with a forklift......but we had no forklift at home. We tried rolling it down a ramp on the back of the truck but the lid somehow came loose and as it rolled it dumped majority of the cleaner out.
I miss that gig every time I go to the store, they let employees buy from them at steep discounts. You would get a 5 gallon container of laundry detergent (same as many big generic companies) for $.50 / gallon. Hand soap was about .$35 / gallon. Having to pay $6 or $7 now for a gallon of laundry detergent sucks.East bound and down, loaded up and truckin',
we're gonna do what they say can't be done.
