So, I need a boat lift.
I'll be buying a slip at our lake this summer so I won't have to worry about trailering each day. The dock is covered, but open throughout besides framing if that makes sense. Anyone here have recommendations on a lift? I think it'll need to be a center mounted type.
Boat weighs around 4k lbs.
I really don't know a ton regarding lifts so forgive me!Be about it.

First off once you get a boat lift up and running you will absolutely love it. No more fighting your boat at the launch ramp or waiting on the dry storage forklift.
There are many options for a 4ooolb boat and it all depends on the size of your slip (inside width), style of boat, and the water depth. If you know these 3 things any boat lift dealer/installer should be able to recommend.
I am not sure what part of the country you are in but you can typically use the dealer locators on the manufacturers web sites.

and plan for the future..just because your current boat is 4k lbs does not mean your next boat will not be larger lol.
a buddy got a new boat and came to found out that it weighed too much for his old lift.
had to get a whole new lift. sucked bigtime and cost a lot.

Which Lake?
Right now, I have 4 hydrohoists. I couldnt be happier with their NEWEST design. We are on the main lake and on the roughest area and have had no issues yet.
If youre on LOTO, Ive got a perfect solution for you.. LEASE ONE.. 40% of what you pay in your lease can be used towards the purchase price. Lease it for two years, if its not what you want, theyll come get it.. you wouldnt have lost any money. If you decide you love it and want to keep it, buy it out. Youll only have lost a few bucks, and if you financed one, it would have equalled out..

A boat lift will set you free! But I agree with the advice to get a bigger one than you need. Your next boat is never smaller than the previous one . . .

It's all about the HP of the motor and the gearing.
I upgraded my lift to hoist 8k and it didn't even cost me $1k

I'll be on Smithville Lake in Smithville MO, and leasing isn't an option there. I've been searching craigslist and looking at a few brands online, mainly Polylift. Also been toying around with building one, and the most trouble with that is finding the tanks & controller.
Thanks for all your feedback - I know I won't be purchasing a larger boat for at least 7-10 years, but I can say I'll be adding weight for the wake here soon enough. I'm guestimating I should get a lift that can handle 5k lbs and call it good.Be about it.
