Scuba gear always works best!!!................. about 15 minutes before the race have someone go down and drill a hole in his boat......

I'm not a boat person so this might sound silly, but is there any type of wax or coating you can apply to the hull to reduce water stiction (for lack of a better term)? Teflon?

But whatever you do, hope you win.

Great riding boat! What RPM's are you running and top speed currently. 71-75 is really too vague to work with because it usually costs thousands to get another 1 or 2 mph out of it. And without a baseline, its like throwin money in the lake.. What props/dia/pitch do you have now.. Get me those numbers and I can tell you where to go from there...

If youre still running stock props and it has 300's, youve probably got a little room to gain. But the actually SETUP of the outboards will benefit you the most.. putting a revbox (notsure of the name for the 300's) and playing with height will help..

He is running Bravo1 Outboard Series. Trip OptiMax 300XS's, SportMaster gear cases. Gotta get to the boat for prop specs. But if i remember correctly 24.5" x 21P (that may be wrong) I dont believe they have been labbed or blue printed.

It also depends where you want to beat him...on top end, or out of the hole? Are you guys mainly running for dick size, with "yeah, we were flat out and I walked him" or are you going to be punching coming off the docks, and see who gets up and goes the fastest?

That makes a difference in choice of props, two ends of the spectrum. Waterboy is right, I'd really work on the setup right now. That will give you "free" speed and performance, and give you a good baseline when you do decide to upgrade props. You'll know that you're at peak performance with a given setup, then can measure changes easier when put the new prop on and change the setup to help out that prop. It's all about try something, test it, note it, change it, test it, note it, etc.

On our race boats, we can spend an entire weekend just dialing in one prop and exhaust setup, 1/8th of an inch at a time...
