correct.. motor and drive package technology made some pretty big leaps. Especially with shiftable transmissions, EFI and now TURBINES being the new thing.. but you can only force a hunk of glass through the water with so much horsepower before you start having major handling issues.. Now with cad, water tanks and smoke, designers are getting a lot braver.. And also since the economy did what it did, boat prices came back to being reasonable so manufacturers are having to work a lot harder at their designs to move product. People dont seem to care about how many TV's you can cram in it or how wild the paint is. They want the best bang for their buck, and they want fuel economy and a warranty. And while youre at it, knock a digit off the price..

Make sure the sticker has good glue on the back because the boats that will pass it might suck it right off the fiberglass..

50' Cat isn't meant to be the fastest thing out there. It's more like an S65 or 'Bach 67S. Sure some cars are faster but it's a luxo barge that still gets the job done.
If you wanted to leave Newport and run to San Diego not much will get it done like that bit cat.
