Why no official powerboat series in the US?
I was looking at Offshore powerboat racing - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia and the two powerboat series out there; U.I.M Powerboat P1 and Class 1 Powerboat Championship.
Why aren't these held at all in the US?
Miami would be ideal for them in my opinion...

We have quite a few offshore racing series..
OPA, SBI, OSS to name a few... Nationals are held every year in Key West... Theres a thread here called "so you like fast boats?.??" that talks about it.

SBI is an international series thats oddly based strictly in the US. We have a lot of teams that compete in Qatar too. I think youre asking how come none of the other international series use Miami as a venue for some of their races. The problem with it is theres so many dozens of classes and levels to compete at, that now you have racers taking home trophys just for making a lap because they dont have anyone else in their class.
They need to have one major international series and one for each nation. Same rules. same classes and combine classes. Unless you're racing unlimited, each one needs to have production class rules. IE: merc motors, sealed, stamped and delivered to the track the day of the race. But logistically, no one has ever been able to put together something like this. Its a CONSTANT debate on the boating forums. And until everyone gets together on this, there will never be any TV or media coverage.
