My good friend Jim took his rig all the way down from Oklahoma to make this race. Unfortunately he threw a driveshaft coupler on the way to bimini and had to idle back to Miami. Boats home now, repaired and ready for a weekend in fresh water!
And on a side note, MOSt of these are PRIVATELY owned and funded pleasure boats racing along side of some of the fastest teams in the world. What other venue can you "run what ya brung" and play with the big boys on the same field?

They are yearly. THeres forums just like L4P that are centered around the boating community. They plan runs just like you guys planned Gold Rush.. Except theres about 25-30 runs a season and they are all crammed into about 4 1/2 months a year!
But it takes a LOT of planning.. Just getting the permits to haul the boat down the highway (over 12' wide!), finding 110 octane fuel ON the water, INSURANCE for the runs, Coast Gaurd, Launch ramps, mechanics, etc.. its tough.. but totally worth it..
