I'm planning a trip for Summer 2011. Any suggestions where I should stay? I'll probably want to rent a house on the lake. Do I want to be in Cornelius? Or is there someplace else I might enjoy more? The objective of the trip is to scout for a possible new community.

    Thanks guys.

The people I know who live on Lake Norman have a Mooresville address. I don't know enough about the area to make recommendations, but I have visted them a couple times and it seemed pretty nice. Looks like Cornelius is just a few miles away. I'd suggest using VRBO.com if you want to find a lake front rental for your trip and then working with a good real estate agent to answer the rest of your questions.

Man Lake Norman is great! I live about 12 miles from there but I'm up in the area several times during the week. I was looking for a house in the area but I'm gonna probably end up in Cornelius which is like the town nextdoor. If you need any info hit me up. I'll help out however I can.

You live in the Peninsula? I'm there all the time at a friends house right past Square Sail Dr...

Cornelius is a wonderful place, a little on the expensive side, but it still has that small town feel... and traffic isn't anywhere near as bad a Brawley School road!

Well, I finally made it out to Lake Norman a few weeks ago. Stayed in Cornelius. What a beautiful area. The people were friendly, the food was great (especially BBQ), and the lake was awesome. I didn't really like that the nuke plant was so bright at night, but I did like how warm the water was (a side effect of the plant, I think).

Sorry I didn't manage to get in touch with any of you who posted up. Honestly, I totally forgot about this thread until just now. But I hope to be back soon and I'll try to get in touch.

Grady, is your Davis Exotics business still alive?
