These sexy machines have gained a host of enhancements, including freshened exterior styling, increased engine output, active aerodynamics and more. But the big reveal here at the Detroit auto show is their AMG GT C Coupe.
All versions of the AMG GT are powered by a hand-built, 4.0-liter twin-turbo V8. Each model makes more power and torque for 2017, with the AMG GT C Coupe delivering 550 horses and 502 lb-ft of juicy twist. A seven-ratio, dual-clutch Speedshift gearbox is the only transmission offered.
This car also benefits from a wider track and active rear-wheel steering, both of which are borrowed from the AMG GT R. In addition to this, you get an electronically operated AMG Ride Control suspension system as well as a limited-slip differential for extra traction.
All versions of the 2017 AMG GT gain a distinctive new grille that makes the car look lower, wider and perhaps a bit meaner. It features 15 chrome-plated vertical bars for a bit of visual pizzazz. The AMG GT R’s active air-management system is standard across the board, helping improve aerodynamics without sacrificing performance.
Beyond all of this there’s a new AMG Track Pack option for the entire AMG GT family. Tapping into the power of Apple’s iPhone it allows owners to analyze their driving performance and share it on social media. The app connects to the car via WiFi, where it monitors lap times, speed, gear selection, steering angle and other parameters.
As for the AMG GT C Coupe revealed here in Detroit, it’s slated to land at dealerships in the U.S. late next fall. Pricing has yet to be announced.
