The Lotus Bloom: The Evora GTE and other upcoming models
Is anyone as excited as I am about the upcoming Frankfurt Auto Show?
Lotus is expected to reveal at least 6 new models, including a production version of the Evora GTE Road Car!

I don't know about you, but I think the current leaders in the supercar market are going to be given a run for their money.
I just wrote a blog pots about the full story:

I am excited about the new/updated models, because it means that Lotus will be racing them to promote them among consumers/enthusiasts. One of my guys with connections to Lotus Sport USA and Group Lotus is meeting with them over the next few days. There are some cool things on the radar for 2012. More info after the weekend.

I am almost tempted NOT to buy an Evora S and to wait for the GTE. That car looks fantastic.

Wait for the GTE. If it is closer to the Evora Cup/GT4 race car than it is to the Evora S street car, then you will be glad you did.
Besides, Lotus needs to sell enough of them to fulfill the ACO rules for homologation of the Evora in the Le Mans GTE class (ALMS GT), just like how Porsche sold/sells the GT3RS (the production car basis for the Cup cars).David McMahon

Interesting perspectives - thanks for lending. Do we know in what price range the GTE will be, and when in 2012 it will go on sale?
I will say this - I am thinking of buying the Evora S within 2-3 months, and probably replace it within 1-2 years. So exactly how much waiting and what the cost difference will be will sway me greatly - especially if it means getting the S now and the GTE to replace it later! Otherwise, it is going to be an excruciatingly long wait for an albeit WAY cooler trim level on this platform that I already desire. I loved the cup car - but figured I could get the S and even mod it to look pretty darn close to the cup car if I really wanted to go for the look - but it obviously wont be as easy with the GTE, and I don't know what to expect from the performance level (yes, I have read it is 444 PS - but I have no idea what this would be like to drive).Last edited by Hossy; 09-01-2011 at 11:17 PM.

Ok just saw some things online - popular conception is that it will be priced somewhere near 200k, and have very few imported to the US market. I know that about 114 orders were sold in Asia - how many must be sold to qualify for the Le Mans GTE class?
Either way, I was hoping it would be a modest 40-50k on top of the S - but it seems like it may be out of my price range new, and I will have to wait longer to grab one with a few miles.

If you are planning to wait 2-3 months, then you should have a solid view of the full line-up's prices and specs by then. I wish you tons of fun with your new Lotus
