Default Lotus CEO Says: Lotus Will Be ‘British Porsche’

For us it was a known fact, but nobody really confirmed the rumoured story. Now company boss Dany Bahar has stated to British car magazine Autocar that Lotus will follow in the footsteps of German manufacturer Porsche.

We’re trying to make a British Porsche. We’re not trying to make the same number of cars as them but the same type of cars.
Reports also indicate that all Lotus dealerships will loose their brand responsibilities and rights.

    why?
build the exact same car for years: not change anything on it till its old boring and handles like a pendelum?
Dilute the brand with crappy cars like shamumara, the cayenne, and the creole?

because that's what sells! Period. Its about making money. They are not making money with the cars they have now. They have to expand. I'm sure they will still over a stipped version of their cars for the true Lotus purest.... At least I hope so

lotus marketing sucks. they have no idea how to market their car.

lotus has always been a no frills car. there is a segment that wants this. however, they just don't spend enough to develop that philosophy. that's why we see toyota camry engines in lotus and cheap targa tops on elise.

lotus doesn't understand that people looking for trackable street cars want nice sounding engines that are powerful and responsive. also, not having a dual clutch means that a majority of potential customers are lost.

instead, lotus wants to expand their lineup. you cant fix your problem by making it bigger.

Way too ambitious, Collin would puke knowing what this guy s doing to his lightweight philosophy. CEO comes across as a celeb loving douche.

Well if you want to see Lotus never make another car again then hate it. Personally, I think they will still strive to real Lotus fans at the same time make money on find new people with cars that are usable for the everyday life.
